Offered at Networld + Interop Tradeshow For As Low as $2995
ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 14, 1999–
Dynamic Network Factory, the U.S. subsidiary of the $16 billion, Japan-based CSK Inc., today announced the introduction of its new DataStor RAID product line — a series of RAID storage subsystems with integrated OnStream 30 and 50 gigabyte(a) digital tape drives utilizing proprietary ADR technology. The new DataStor RAID servers will be showcased for the first time this week at the Networld + Interop (N + I) tradeshow in Atlanta in the OnStream booth (No. 2046) at the Georgia World Congress Center. Combining the superior quality of today’s leading RAID servers with the ease of a plug and play solution, the DataStor RAID introduction marks a significant price breakthrough for the RAID storage and backup markets.
“OnStream’s highly reliable ADR technology and low price point make an excellent addition to our product line,” said Mohammad Tahmasebi, president, Dynamic Network Factory. “This partnership allows us to provide state-of-the-art RAID and digital tape storage to our customers at an unprecedented value.”
DataStor RAID connects to a host server through a standard SCSI-3 adapter to give any network administrator the security and performance of a hardware-based RAID solution. The DataStor RAID series provides an effortless, four-step LCD setup that takes only minutes to configure.
“We are excited by this unique opportunity to merge our high capacity digital tape drives with Dynamic Network Factory’s top quality RAID servers,” said Andy Grolnick, senior vice president, marketing, OnStream. “VARs and end users now have a turnkey storage solution for as low as 2.4 cents per MB, versus the fault-tolerant industry standard of more than 15 cents per MB.”
The DataStor RAID series offers disk storage capacities of 75GB and 112GB, RAID levels 0/1/5 and a choice of integrated 30 or 50 gigabyte(a) OnStream digital tape backup. DataStor RAID features 64MB of controller cache (upgradeable to 128MB), dual hot-swappable power supplies, hot swap drives and fax modem/pager failure notification. DataStor RAID’s superior error correction code (ECC) maintains maximum performance while correcting multiple error bursts. Interfaces supported include Ultra-2, LVD, fast, wide and ultra-wide SCSI host channels with data transfer rates of up to 80MB/sec.
The DataStor RAID uses OnStream digital tape drives to deliver affordable and reliable solutions for a range of applications from office workgroups to the enterprise. OnStream’s 30 and 50 gigabyte(a) digital tape drives are internal SCSI solutions delivering a native transfer rate of up to 2MB/sec. With an eight-channel array head, sophisticated embedded servo system, spatially distributed ECC and a bit error rate of only 1 in 10 to the 19th power, OnStream’s digital tape drives deliver a unique level of reliability for mission-critical installations.
DataStor RAID’s microprocessor-driven RAID controller combined with the latest in chipset technology makes it one of the fastest and lowest priced RAID and digital tape storage subsystems on the market. DataStor RAID is S.M.A.R.T. System compliant and supports the EPA Energy star standard (Green PC friendly).
